An Overview

Introduction

I have been studying the 13th and 17th chapters of Revelation, and have some very important news for all. Many theologians have gone before and have tried to solve the meaning of the prophecies given in these chapters, and much of what they have to say is correct, while at the same time, there are passages which still elude them. But as the time comes nearer to the end, these elusive truths must come to light. Otherwise, if we go through the time of the end, and have not gained the truths that are intended for the end, then it will have all been written in vain.

Beginning with the common interpretation that alleges the identity of the seven headed beast of Revelation ch. 13 and in ch. 17, as the papacy, I introduce additional confirming evidence, that the world has not yet seen. So compelling is this evidence, that once you are able to grasp the significance, and understand it all, you will be amazed that it fits so perfectly and has been there for 25 years, yet it is only at this late juncture, that it has been first introduced. It aligns every specific element of the prophecy and is matched by history in much the same fashion as a strand of DNA. There are at least twenty different elements that align to form this match.

This research uses exact data derived directly from the Vatican's own Lateran record of popes, as was dedicated to John Paul II when he took the office of the Papal Chair. It is demonstrated here, that it forms an exact match with the prophecies written in the Bible. Albeit, the very spoken word of God which openly speaks of the mark of its identity; the number 666, may be the only source from God's word that makes this identity provable.

When a prophecy is interpreted correctly, it will take all the elements of the prophecy and congeal them into one contiguous account. When false interpretations are introduced, they fail to fit the whole account, often appearing to stand separate from the rest of the elements of the prophecy.

When a portion of the truth is perceived, it is like striking a rich vein in a mine; it leads along a path to greater truths.

The beast is the papacy, and the number 666 is the number of this beast. This number is derived from the beast. Or I could say; This number is derived from the papacy.

I ask; Where, upon the papacy, are there numbers found, which can be counted?

If the popes do not want to be associated with the number 666, then why do they put numbers on their names?

A single thought, inspired at the right time, to the right person, and the path to present truth is made evident for all. As I considered the elements of the prophecy that numbers the 666 beast, and knowing the beast is represented by the papacy, then thinking of the fact that the popes have put numbers on their names, I embarked on a research project that would gather together the data and see how the numbers of these names add up.

Since I knew of the prophecy of the 1260 years of papal dominance, I considered that the year 1798 was a relevant point of time in regard to this beast's number. I counted the numbers of the popes from 1798 to the present. I saw that the number of names they have used is seven, and I noted that this matched the number of heads on the beast. Seeing then that the seven names they have used, appeared to fit the pattern within the prophecy as being the seven heads / mountains, I did an estimated count of the the numbers I saw. The answer was within a very close proximity of 666, so I knew then that if I could get the exact facts, the exact number could be counted to the present time.

No one before 1997 has ever seen this evidence, though it has been present with us all since the election of John Paul in 1978.

The Number Count of the 666 Beast

Revelation 13: 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

This prophecy is chiastically linked to Revelation 17: 9, where additional information is found that relates to this count. This passage is also within another chiastic envelope that explains even more specific details about the beast.

Revelation 17: 9, 10
9. And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

The Interpretation of the Heads of the Beast of Revelation 13 and 17

The beast is the papacy, and the number 666 is the number of this beast. This number is derived from the beast. This number is derived from the papacy.

The example given in the prophecy in Daniel 7, of the leopard beast, shows that it has four heads. Alexander the Great ushered in the Grecian empire. When Alexander died, the kingdom was divided among his four generals. Grecia was divided into four parts. These four heads of this Grecian beast are Lysimachus, Ptolemy, Seleucus, and Cassander, which were Alexander's four generals. It is shown as a Grecian beast with Grecian heads.

Therefore, if the beast that has seven heads is the papacy, then the seven heads of this beast must also be papal.

They cannot be the ancient kingdoms that many seem to believe. These ancient kingdoms have come to their demise long before the ``beast'' ever arose. How, I ask, can they be heads of the papal beast? No one can answer that question. What is there that indicates these to be the seven heads? (There is no such indication.) The primary source where this ``ancient kingdoms as heads'' theory is found, comes straight out of the footnotes on Revelation 13: 2, in the Catholic's Douay Rheims bible.

The beast has seven heads, therefore, for the papacy to be the identity of this beast, the papacy itself must show seven heads. Who is the head of the papacy today? Wouldn't that be John Paul II? I think this is the most straightforward interpretation of this symbol; to conclude that the popes are the heads of the Catholic Church, and these are the heads of the beast.

Applying the seven heads as seven mountains to the papacy and the popes, works like this; The seven names used for the popes since 1798, each comprise the seven heads and these seven are also mountains. All the popes that share the same name are a mountain. John Paul I was not a mountain, nor was he a part of a mountain, until John Paul II arrived, then John Paul becomes a mountain. A mountain then, is the line of popes that all bear the same name, each being differentiated by a number. It is these numbers that are derived from the popes themselves, that are used in the counting of the number of the beast. There is no dispute regarding the conversion of letters into numbers, because these are already numbers ready to be counted. The argument over which language to use in the conversion of letters into numbers, falls to the ground.

Kenneth Strand writes in the DARCOM series:
``Since the word `mountains' is obviously symbolic in (Rev) 17: 9, proper principles of interpretation would require that we look for the scriptural usage of the term `mountain' in cases where the term is employed as a symbol. When we do so, we never find `mountain' used to symbolize an individual monarch or ruler.''
Symposium on Revelation, book 2 pg. 186

A single person cannot be a mountain. A mountain is comprised of two or more kings.

The beast (the papacy) is comprised of seven heads, which are seven mountains, and the last seven kings are shown that precede the eighth. It is this eighth that is the last one, and is destroyed at the end.

We must then identify the seven heads, with the eighth, and count up all the numbers of these seven heads/mountains, then we have the total for the papal beast, and the last pope who completes this count, is the man whose number is 666. Shortly after that time, the power is restored to the papacy.

The chapter that defines the outline of how these seven heads appear, is written in Revelation chapter 17. This outline must be able to be aligned with the seven heads of the papacy, if the papacy is the correct identity of the beast. It is seen to align perfectly.

Revelation 17: 9 is directly linked to Revelation 13: 18, by what is known as the chiastic pattern found in it. The papal title interpretation makes no connection to this chiastic pattern. It says nothing about seven heads in the papal title or from the count of the letters.

Whereas the Bible identifies the beast by these seven heads, and the count of the numbers of all of these seven heads (which are mountains) is what comprises the number of the beast.

The count of the seven mountains and the eighth head, produce the number 666 and links back again to Revelation 13: 18. The chiastic pattern of Revelation makes the first link to the seven heads, and they in turn, reflect back showing that this number is found in these papal heads.

Revelation 17 has also been noted by several theologians, that it portrays the papacy after 1798. Having this clue, I list here for examination, the official Lateran Record record of the popes from 1798 to the present;

1. Pius VI (1775-99)
1. Pius VII (1800-23)
2. Leo XII (1823-29)
1. Pius VIII (1829-30)
3. Gregory XVI (1831-46)
1. Pius IX (1846-78)
2. Leo XIII (1878-1903)
1. Pius X (1903-14)
4. Benedict XV (1914-22)
1. Pius XI (1922-39)
1. Pius XII (1939-58)
5. John XXIII (1958-63)
6. Paul VI (1963-78)
7. John Paul I (1978)
7. John Paul II (1978-2003)

This list is to show that are only seven different names that have been used since 1798.

Pius appears six times, and is easily seen here as a mountain. In order that Gregory and John and Paul are to be mountains, requires that the entire time of the beast is considered. There, the Papal record displays them all as mountains. The mountains are what is counted.

The Mountains are Counted

Counting all the numbers of all the popes that use these seven papal names produces the count of the beast, up to the current point in time. As of John Paul II, from 1978 to 2004, the cumulative total of all the numbers of these seven mountains is now at 665.

These are the seven heads of the beast, which Revelation 17: 10 also calls mountains. These names are also mountains. A mountain here is; having several popes that use the same name. This links back over to Revelation 13: 18; as the counting of these papal mountains produces the number that is given in Revelation 13: 18. A mountain is the result of using the same name several times. The smallest mountain is John Paul. There are only two. To distinguish them, they receive numbers. It is from these numbers that the count of the beast is made. Thus directed, the numbers of all seven of these papal names are counted, and the sum total of them all, plus the eighth, is the number of the beast. The eighth head that follows these seven, will complete the count to 666, so the sum total of the seven alone, is 665.

The eighth, and last one, completes the count of the beast and he is the 666 man of sin revealed.

If the papal record had contained no errors, we could just use the numbers that are shown after their name. The errors in the papal record are thus corrected to what they actually are, without any errors.

The count is thus corrected to reflect the legitimate number of the popes within each mountain. Since there was no John XX; and Benedict X and John XVI were deposed, the number of legitimate popes named John and Benedict are corrected to 21 and 14 respectively. All other popes of these seven mountains are legitimate and their number can be counted directly. If the Vatican would move to correct the errors in the numbering of the popes, to eliminate the gaps in the official papal list, then the count would be exactly as it is shown in this research, and there would not have been any need to explain the errors of the papal numbers, and anyone could readily produce the exact count themselves.

Pius 12 ....................78
Leo 13......................91
Gregory 16.............136
Benedict 14.............105
John 21...................231
Paul 6.......................21
John Paul 2.................3
Subtotal 7 heads......665
8th head +1.............666

Anyone capable of performing accurate math calculations, can confirm from the Papal record, that this count is correct.

Since John Paul is the seventh head, and mountain, and the current count has been taken to the last single number possible before reaching the total of 666, it coerces the conclusion that the next ``legitimate'' pontificate must introduce a new name, and add only one to the count.

Revelation 13: 18 confirms that the number 666 is both the number of a man and the beast. Revelation 17: 9, and 10 confirm that the eighth head that arises after the seven, is the beast returned after it was not, and is comprised of only one person, who is alive to the end and is destroyed by the second coming of Christ. He is the eighth in the sequence of the seven, but not included in the list of heads that are also called mountains. He is ``of the seven'' but he is not a mountain. This concurs with the fact that there is only one more space to fill to make the count complete.

There is however, the possibility of an interim antipope, preceding the Antichrist. The number of an antipope cannot count toward the total, because an antipope counts as zero. Only a legitimate pontificate can contribute to the count of the number. Therefore, the ``errors'' within the Papal record are not permitted to corrupt the count.

And there are other elements of the prophecy that are completely ignored by the papal title interpretation of the alleged papal title; ``Vicarius Filii Dei.'' It does not demonstrate to be the number of a single man. It asserts that all popes are men and the papal title comprises how it applies to the beast. It does not pinpoint who this last man of sin is, but presumes this number upon all the popes. Nor is there is any connection to Revelation 17: 9, whereas the Bible makes clear that there is a chiastic connection.

There is yet more to be seen in this chapter that confirms this Papal line-up; The outline includes that the first five are fallen, and the sixth being the ``one is'' making Pope Paul VI as the point of perspective from which John the Revelator is perceiving this seven-headed beast line-up, and John Paul as the seventh head that is ``not yet come.''

John was taken in vision by the angel to the wilderness where the beast was put into in 1798, and it is from there that he sees this beast. Only a new name as John Paul I had introduced, could fit between these three requirements;

1) The count must not exceed 666, except it may appear to briefly during a possible future antipope.

2) The name must be new one, and to have not existed before the sixth.

3) It must still be a mountain requiring at least two pontificates of this new name. The Papal record fits all three of these elements.

Thus the papal record very accurately matches the outline of this prophecy.

The Head that was Wounded and Healed

Other elements also indicate the identity of the heads. It says that one of its heads was wounded. This happened to Pope Pius VI, in 1798.

Revelation 13: 14
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

It was Pope Pius VI that was the head of the beast that was wounded, and it was Pope Pius XI who was the same head that was healed in 1929. The beast has been ever rising in power. Pope Pius was the first of the seven heads.

This interpretation comes late within the perspective of its own conclusion, and the status of the count at the time of its discovery. No one had counted these numbers when there were only six heads present. The Bible affirms that when a prophecy is fulfilled, it is the time in which it is understood. When I first began this research, all seven had been seen.

The Papal record matches the wounding and healing of one of its heads. It matches the line-up of the seven kings with an eighth, and the numbers of all these heads of these seven mountains add up to 665.

The Bible texts themselves demonstrate they are connected by the chiastic pattern. The statistical analysis of the Papal record demonstrates that the number 666 is connected to the seven heads/mountains. There is no other interpretation that even hints that there is any connectivity between these two verses.

We now await for the final 1 to complete the count. At that time, the count of the beast will be complete and the 666 man will be revealed. Since John Paul II is very aged, and has been very feeble for the last few years, the transition to the final fulfillment of the number 666 is very imminent.

One particular error was tried by some against this interpretation. It went like this; The "one is" was the time that John wrote the prophecy, applying it to 70 A.D. This particular view is essential to mount up support for "the ancient kingdom as heads" theory, because that places the sixth head in John's day. It is not suggested that anyone look further for other evidence, and they are expected to accept what has been given by the leading theologians. Then when I postulated that it was Paul VI that constituted the sixth head, the one that is referred to as the "one is", they argued against it because the "one is" had to be in 70 A. D. Their interpretation put a "bend" in the template and corrupted their perception of other interpretations.

Their errant interpretation of this specific element was their proof that I was in error. They did not examine the "evidence" with reference to the "prophecy" to see if there was a match, or an identical pattern at all.

The difference between the interpretation I present, and all other interpretations is largely one thing: I demonstrate a contiguous account that brings together all of the elements of this prophecy. The contiguous historic record demonstrates that it matches all of the contiguous elements of this prophecy, like a strand of DNA; both sides form the same pattern. Whereas no other interpretation makes ANY connectivity at all. They are only presented as singular elements that have a non- contiguous single application. The number 666 is not shown by them to be related to the seven heads. They give the number 666 only one interpretation, and that interpretation is not associated with any other element within the prophecy. This interpretation connects every element... together.

The predominant view that is held by many faiths is that the seven heads are seven mountains, and these consist of the ancient kingdoms that have persecuted the people of God through history. They cannot demonstrate that their selection of seven heads are connected to the papal beast that they should be on.

However, the seven heads are not these ancient kingdoms, and indeed, they cannot be. The three beast parts mentioned are not related to the beast's heads, nor do they describe the beast's heads at all; they are descriptors of the ``Papal Beast'' and directly relate to the nature of the whole ``beast.''

``In Daniel 7 the three empires that existed before Rome were pictured as a lion, a bear, and a leopard. So the power that followed pagan Rome, the Papacy, was to have similar characteristics as all the empires that came before it.''
(from chapter 12 of www.prophecymadeeasy.com)

``The feet of a bear does refer to Medo-Persia; The Bible goes on then and begins to describe --- a bear with three ribs in its mouth... Daniel 7: 5 says, ``And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear ...raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth... And they said thus to it: ``Arise, devour much flesh!''' The bear, with three ribs in his mouth, represents Medo-Persia attacking Babylon, Lydia and Egypt.'' Mark Findley, www.iiw.org

Lydia in 547 B.C.,
Babylon in 539 B.C.,
Egypt in 525 B.C.

The action of Medo-Persia was that it uprooted three kingdoms, which was paralleled by the Little Horn. The Heruli, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths were `plucked up by the roots.' Daniel 7: 8 ``I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots.'' The action portrayed by this beast, is the same as seen in the dragon from whom this beast received its power.

There are many parallels that are seen between the portrayal of the dragon, and the beast. These parallels also serve to help identify the dragon's heads and horns.

The fact of the action of uprooting three of the horns that are of the empires of Rome, means that the horns that develop on this beast that uprooted these three horns, cannot be those of its own. There are no uprooted horns on the papal beast. None are shown in Revelation to be uprooted. The three horns that were uprooted were of the ten horns shown in Revelation 12: 3 and Revelation 13: 2, which are Rome's and are those of the dragon's.

``The Bible identifies the fact that the Papacy would overcome three of those horn powers. `There before me was another horn, a little one which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it.' `The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings.' Daniel 7: 8, 24.'' www.iiw.org

Feet Like a Bear
This signifies then that the papacy will uproot three powers as did Medo-Persia, depicted by the three ribs in its mouth.

The Mouth of a Lion Three verses later, it again refers to the mouth of this beast; Revelation 13: 5 ``And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.'' As did king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made an image, and set it up in the plain of Dura, and commanded that all bow down and worship this image upon the penalty of death, the papal beast will also speak likewise in these last days.

The Body of a Leopard
What do you know about the leopard? ``dominion was given to it..''

Revelation 13: 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. This Papal dominion lasted for 1,260 years.

The Grecian leopard beast of Daniel 7 had four heads. The leopard-like sea beast has seven heads.

What are the four heads about? Alexander's kingdom was divided among his four generals - - - Cassander, Lysimachus, Ptolemy and Seleucus. These four heads of the Grecian beast are also Grecian. Thus it sets forth a very clear principle of interpretation that the heads of a beast, are of a like nature to the beast which they are on. Therefore, the seven heads of the ``Papal beast'' are also ``Papal.'' That is where this research leads into; the identity of the papal beast's seven papal heads.

In conclusion, the three listed characteristics of Revelation 13: 2 do indeed describe the nature of the ``Papal Beast'' but they do not reference themselves as identifying three of the seven heads. Having ``feet" like a bear, does not connote it as being one of its heads.

The timeframe of Revelation 17 and these seven heads is from 1798 to the present. Revelation 17: 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The first five are fallen. The Revelator was taken in vision to the time of pope Paul VI 1963 to 1978, the sixth head which is explained as the "one is". From there he is shown the future short space of the seventh and the eighth that will follow that goes into destruction.

There has never been, nor will there ever be seen again, another Pius, or Leo, or Gregory or Benedict or John as a pope after pope Paul V arrived on the scene. Paul was the head referred to as the ``one is'' and John Paul is the seventh head that had not yet come. His name was entirely new with no predecessor prior to the sixth head Paul.

John Paul, the seventh head, has continued a short space. When the tenure of all seven of these mountain heads are counted, John Paul constitutes almost 25 years. The next shortest tenure of these seven is Paul at 67 years. So John Paul by comparison to the other heads is indeed the shortest.

One of these heads of the beast was wounded with a deadly wound and did live; and this was Pius VI in 1798. It was a Pius XI who received soverenty again in 1929, thus the head was healed. It is after this that the beast arises again. In 538 A.D. the beast ``was'' and in 1798 it became the ``is not'' and it will soon become the ``yet is'' when the eighth head arrives.

The false interpretation which is predominantly held by most Adventists is that the ancient kingdoms are the heads of the beast.

Here, their interpretation places the papacy as the seventh head, which we know to have reigned supreme for 1,260 years, adding yet another 205 years after that for a total of 1,465 years. By comparison, it is the longest of any of their other proposed heads. Rather than being seen as a short space, it is shown to be the longest space of all.

It also makes the papacy to be one of the heads on the beast, which is also inter- preted to be the papacy, thus they have listed the papacy as being one of the heads on itself, while having other kingdoms as its other heads. It is a completely illogical interpretation.

It fails in several aspects in its comparison to the specific elements of this prophecy.

William Miller, who pioneered the opening of the last day message of Christ's soon return, had a dream. In it, he saw a cask of gems that represented the precious truths of the remnant. As he tried to display them for all the world to see, there were others who soiled them and and brought in dirt and rubbish and scattered them around. Then the man with the dirt brush came in and swept away all the dirt, and gathered the precious gems all together again. But now, they were seen as more brilliant than before. Many false teachings have come into the Seventh-day Adventist church, and have obscured the truth for this time, but as this message has unfolded, it has become apparent that it is the new light which was to come, and it sweeps away the false teaching regarding these prophecies.

Many who have seen this research, have concluded with absolute certainty that this will set up the Loud Cry that is to come, and contains the straight testimony that causes the shaking.

More information regarding the identity of the heads and horns of the dragon;

In Revelation 12, the dragon is shown to have seven heads and ten horns.

``The line of prophecy in which these symbols are found begins with Revelation 12, with the dragon that sought to destroy Christ at His birth. The dragon is said to be Satan (Revelation 12:9); he it was that moved upon Herod to put the Saviour to death. But the chief agent of Satan in making war upon Christ and His people during the first centuries of the Christian Era was the Roman Empire, in which paganism was the prevailing religion. Thus while the dragon, primarily, represents Satan, it is, in a secondary sense, a symbol of pagan Rome.'' GC p. 438

There is an equation in Revelation 12, that Satan is the dragon, and the dragon is equated to Rome. The account concerning the dragon continues into Revelation 13, where the dragon gives power and his seat to the beast. Rome, is also portrayed, as having ten horns. It was three of these ten horns of Rome that the dragon gave up to accomplish the transferring of his seat and power to the beast. Rome's ten horns are the dragon's ten horns.

Thus in Daniel 7, there are four beasts, bearing seven heads, and ten horns. Since the dragon has been directly equated with Rome, and the dragon is also said to have seven heads and ten horns, that during the time the dragon is represented through Rome, it shows that the head of Rome, is a subset of the others.

``The final overthrow of all earthly dominions is plainly foretold in the word of truth. In the prophecy uttered when sentence from God was pronounced upon the last king of Israel is given the message:
`Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown:... exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until He come whose right it is; and I will give it Him.' Ezekiel 21: 26, 27. The crown removed from Israel passed successively to the kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. God says, `It shall be no more, until He come whose right it is; and I will give it Him.'
That time is at hand. Today the signs of the times declare that we are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Every- thing in our world is in agitation. Before our eyes is fulfilling the Saviour's prophecy of the events to precede His coming: `Ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. . . . Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earth- quakes, in divers places.' Matthew 24: 6, 7. The present is a time of overwhelming interest to all living. Rulers and statesmen, men who occupy positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their attention fixed upon the events taking place about us. They are watching the strained, restless relations that exist among the nations. They observe the intensity that is taking possession of every earthly element, and they recognize that some- thing great and decisive is about to take place--that the world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis.'' Edu 179.5

The dragon's seven heads have seven crowns. These are the crowns of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Grecia and Rome. Seven crowns, seven heads, and the last head of Rome bearing ten horns, of which three of these; the Ostrogoths, Vandals and Heruli, were uprooted, to give the beast its power and its seat. These are the seven heads and ten horns of the dragon.

In the latest commentary by Ranko Stefanovic; ``The Revelation of Jesus Christ,'' published by Andrews University in 2002 reads;
``However, as William G. Johnsson states, the seven heads of the dragon represent `the kingdoms through which Satan has worked to oppress God's people throughout the ages.''' ``It is significant that the beasts of Daniel 7 have together seven heads and ten horns in total.'' RJC p. 404

``However, while the dragon had the seven crowns on his heads, the beast has ten crowns on his horns. We saw earlier that the seven crowns on the dragon's heads denote Satan's false claim of full authority and power over the world.'' RJC p. 405

If Babylon was a head, and Medo-Persia was a head, and Grecia has four of them and Rome was the terrible beast that had one head and ten horns, then you have the recipe for the prophecy that identifies the dragon as having these seven heads and ten horns. Indeed, it was Rome that broke into ten parts which are represented as horns, and of which the Dragon gave up three horns to give its power and a seat to the beast.

This is the Biblical explanation of the heads and horns of the dragon, as it is evidenced within Revelation 12 and 13, which cover the same prophetic details written in Daniel.

Both chapters reference Rome. Israel was free, until it was taken captive by Babylon. It was then transferred to Medo-Persia, then to Grecia, and finally to Rome. All of these kingdoms have held the Jews captive.
When the papal beast came, power was then transferred from the political agents of Satan, to the religious institution of the papacy.

To say the crown passed means simply that these world powers that persecuted the people of God, were allowed by God to rule. Only one ruling kingdom on the earth at any time as the prophecy indicates. There were 7 crowns thus it is said; The ``crown'' passed.

If you align the imagery of Daniel and Revelation placing the little horn with the leopard-like beast, the chronology will show that the papal horn is one of a subset, placed on par with the ten horns of the beast of Rome, and uprooting three of them.

``Chapter 12 3-6, 13-17 (ch. 13:1, 2, 11). God's People in the Minority.-- Under the symbols of a great red dragon, a leopardlike beast, and a beast with lamblike horns, the earthly governments which would especially engage in trampling upon God's law and persecuting His people, were presented to John. The war is carried on till the close of time.'' 7BC p. 972

``It was the same Herodian spirit, only in another personality, as `the dragon' of Revelation 12: 17 is the same as the dragon of verse 3, the real inspiring power in each being the dragon of verse 9. In the one case he works through pagan Rome; in the other through our own government.'' (Notes from the EGW Estate in Early Writings p. 186)

``Paganism had given place to the Papacy. The dragon had given to the beast `his power, and his seat, and great authority.' Rev. 13:2.'' GC p. 54

``As he influenced the heathen nations to destroy Israel, so in the near future he will stir up the wicked powers of earth to destroy the people of God....'' Mar p. 32

``Kings and rulers and governors have placed upon themselves the brand of antichrist, and are represented as the dragon who goes to make war with the saints--with those who keep the commandments of God and who have the faith of Jesus. In their enmity against the people of God, they show themselves guilty also of the choice of Barabbas instead of Christ.'' TM p. 38 The Two Witnesses
In Rev 11: 7 it reads; ``And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.''

And in Revelation 17: 8 it reads; ``The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

This reference to the beast that ``ascendeth out of the bottomless pit'' from Revelation 11 and 17 are the same, and the context of Revelation 17 is definitely near the terminal end of time. The eighth head is identified with the beast ascending from the bottomless pit. This is what some refer to when they say the beast shall rise again to power, and enforce Sunday laws when the `beast' returns.

Note the parallels;

Notice that in groups 1, 2 and 4, are all verbatim identical in the verses, but group 3 shows three different facets of what we are to understand, is also three things that are identical. The beast, at this time, ascends from his bottomless pit, and this is the eighth, that follows after the seven, and this is also the "yet is," placing it at its time.

Verse 11 includes the repeating of; to whom the mark of the beast is given, as also stated in Revelation 20: 15, and in Revelation 14: 9, 10. It reads; ``and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world,...'' and it finishes with an epilog as noted in 8(b) redirecting back to the original; ``when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.'' This last sentence sets the foundation of the whole period represented by the beast. The ``yet is'' is ``the eighth'' that follows in succession after the seven, and it is he who ``ascends from out of the bottomless pit.''

This last sentence sets the foundation of the whole period represented by the beast; it is discussing the beast and how it appears. The ``was'' is from 538 to 1798, the ``is not'' is from 1798 to the end of the seventh head, and the ``yet is'' is the time of the eighth head until he is destroyed at the Second Coming. This comparison is to show that the beast that ``ascends from the bottomless pit'' is the same as ``the eighth,'' and is the same as the ``yet is.'' The eighth head is the next legitimate pontiff following John Paul II. In Revelation 11: 7 - 13 it shows that the final elements of the prophecy are at the terminal end of the second woe. And the third woe that follows quickly, is the beginning of the sounding of the seventh angel's trumpet announcing God's fully restored eternal reign. Revelation 17 shows who is the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit, and tells what the beast will do after it ascends.

Revelation 11; The Beast that Ascends from the Bottomless Pit

In Revelation 11: 7 - 13 it shows that the final elements of the prophecy are at the terminal end of the second woe. And the third woe that follows quickly, is the beginning of the sounding of the seventh angel's trumpet announcing God's fully restored eternal reign.

The Bible does not state that the Two Witnesses preach only in sackcloth and then they are killed, but that their preaching in ``sackcloth'' occurs for a period of 1,260 years. Scripture does not state that at the end of their time in sackcloth that their testimony had ended or that they are to then be killed. Nor does it state that after God raises them up, that they resume their preaching... This is what they are seen doing after 1798, preaching in such a greater force than before. Their testimony has not yet been finished, and therefore their death has not yet happened.

When God raises them up and their enemies behold them, then fear falls upon those that see them. It is not the fear of what has happened in France that is the raising of them up by God. If it were, then it would be their own fear that preceded their being raised, and it would be an act by them and not God that raises them.

There lacks also no precedent for any beast shown in prophecy to represent such a thing as atheism, which is not even a kingdom. It is a philosopy or belief. Beasts are not philosophies or belief systems. A beast may have a philosophy or belief, but a philosophy does not constitute a beast.

They of the People, Nations, Kindreds and Tongues... Not for just the people of France. ALL people, nations, kindreds and tongues will see this happen.

It is to these same four categories that the Three Angels' Messages are preached. There are three other references to these groups, which all of these references signify a WORLD WIDE affair.

``As we approach the last crisis, it is of vital moment that harmony and unity exist among the Lord's instrumentalities. The world is filled with storm and war and variance. Yet under one head-- the papal power--the people will unite to oppose God in the person of His witnesses.'' Mar p. 187

As the beast ascends from this bottomless pit, it is said that it will make war on the Two Witnesses, and kill them. This will be fulfilled by the enactment of the Sunday laws. The Two Horned land beast in conjunction with the papal beast, will make an image to this beast ``whose head was wounded and did live.'' Pope John Paul II has set up the conditions for this to happen in his encyclical; Dies Domini, in which he implores his faithful to petition their governments to enact civil laws respecting Sunday as the sacred day of worship. The grand deceptions and miracles that will be performed by the next legitimate pontiff, will capture the awe of the Sunday-keeping churches, and they will in turn unite with this papal beast and form the ten horns which receive power for one hour with the beast, to carry out this task; the image of the beast will be made and the mark will follow. Whereupon the buying and selling will be made by only those with the mark of the beast. Finally, they will issue a death decree upon all those who keep the true Sabbath, and when they think they have ridden the earth of these Two Witnesses, they will rejoice and ``give gifts to one another.'' Afterward, those who have been martyred for the truth will be raised up by God, and stand on their feet, causing those who see them great fear. Then they ascend into heaven and the Law of God will be displayed with a particular emphasis on the fourth commandment.

The ``discovery'' of this research was first of one element, but from there, the Bible and history dictated what direction the prophecy intends it to have, and it was followed by a host of more elements that has confirmed this study as present truth.

The death of this pope will also confirm the prophecy and this research as the correct interpretation. ^Benedict XVI, because his name has already been used by other popes, and is a name that has been declared "fallen," constitutes an antipope. There remains an interim waiting period of an undetermined length of time. When he is "taken out of the way" (2Thessalonians 2: 6, 7) then the "wicked" one will be revealed.

End Points

The arguments against the counting of the number 666 from papal titles and of the names of various individuals, are true. It is not Biblical to assert that the letters of a man's name are converted to numbers and are added up to make the number 666. The method of counting numbers in this book, makes no assumptions and does not involve converting any letters into numbers. Therefore it cannot violate the intent of the prophecy.

Just as one half of a strand of DNA matches the other half, so also does this interpretation match that of the outline template of the prophecy. It was these elements of the prophecy that were able to direct this research to the next set of matching elements. It leaves no loose ends.

This research also matches the expected events that are yet to come;

It confronts the popular errors found in today's theology, and thus it sets up for the ``shaking'' to come. It portends of the imminent rise of the antichrist and heralds the cry of the angel of Revelation 18. It is a repeating of the Third Angel's Message and announces that the hour of the judgment is upon us.

Most are not aware that their beliefs regarding this prophecy are not at all Biblical. It has been observed by others that where the Spirit of Prophecy is silent, Adventist scholars have adopted the interpretation set forth by the Catholics. This is very evident in regard to the seven heads and the number 666.
