The Chiastic Pattern in Revelation

The Chiastic nature of the book of Revelation is seen in the distinctive patterning found in it. It divides Revelation in the middle, and forms a mirror-like image.
These two verses near the center, correspond to this pattern;

Revelation 13: 18
He that hath wisdom, let him count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred, threescore, and six.

Revelation 17: 9
And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sitteth.
And there are seven kings: Five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

The second verse references the first, and provides further explanation to the first. It identifies who it is whose number is 666.

Following this description of the beast's heads, the twelfth verse delves into the description and parameters of the ten horns. These ten entities consent to the beast, and receive power one hour with the beast. This portion of the prophecy is yet future (first written in 1996).

Elements of the Prophecy

The Beast with Seven Heads
Beast = Papacy
Heads of the Beast = Heads of the Papacy (popes)

7 Heads = 7 Mountains (a papal name, or line of popes)
The Number of a man 666
Count the "numbers"

For all those who dismiss this number by saying it is merely three sixes, or that ``6'' is the number of man, are denying the Word of God and make the prophecy into a lie. This number is written as six hundred, threescore and six, and is derived by the counting of numbers.

The Beast has been held to be the papacy, from the earliest days of the Reformation, for more than 300 years. Ample evidence exists that expose the papacy as this beast, that has not been adequately disputed, nor has it been proven false. It is a straight conclusion then that if the seven heads are the heads ``of the beast'', then they are the heads ``of the papacy''.

Papal History and Prophecy Compared

The question arises; Does this exist within the historic record today?
The answer is; Yes. The papal record indeed shows there to be seven heads from the demarcation point of 1798 as outlined in the prophecy, and these heads, are seven in number, and the cumulative sum of the numbers of their names, equals a total of 665 with John Paul II.

The total number; 666 constitutes the number of the beast.
The numbers are counted from the names of the seven heads.

Example:

The name of the head = Pius
Number of Pius = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 + 12 = 78

The 7 heads are;
1 Pius .............. Pius XII (12)
2 Leo ............... Leo XIII (13)
3 Gregory........ Gregory XVI (16)
4 Benedict ....... Benedict XIV (14)
5 John ............. John XXI (21)
6 Paul .............. Paul VI (6)

This yields a measured number of possible outcomes from this point in time. After the death of John Paul II, it will be clearly evident as to what will follow.

The most imminent need of man at this time, is to apply the principles found within the Three Angels' Messages. The people to hear this message are those who hear the Spirit calling them. They are a part of the Catholic faith first, followed by all the Protestant faiths that share in keeping its false Sabbath; Sunday. All of God's people in Babylon are to be called out of it.

There are many elements within prophecy and all these elements must follow a continuity within their fulfillment. They must fit accurately and be clearly evident.

The count of an antipope was set by the Lateran Record to be zero, so wherever the record has deviated from this rule, the correct rule is applied.

1 The Great Whore.
The largest Christian church in the world is described here; Catholicism. It is called the Great Whore because of its false doctrines that it has incorporated into its system and because of the nature of this church, it tenaciously clings to these false doctrines lest it should admit that their popes were ever in error.

2 That sitteth upon many waters.
During the 1260 year reign of the Catholic church, it had proselytized most of the inhabited world. No other church could boast of this.

3 The kings of the earth have committed fornication with her.
Many kings were anathematized by the popes until they repented before them, for refusing to accept their decrees. It was easier to follow after the Catholic church than to resist her.

4 The inhabitants are made drunk with her wine.
The Catholic church had embarked on its own Douay Rheims Bible and have added to this, their own tradition which they have regarded above that of the Word of God. Their Bible was derived from the minor Egyptian Codices which were corrupted by the writers who did not believe in the truths of the Word of God. Many vital doctrines to salvation have been perverted by this corrupt translation. New doctrines have been created by the popes and their tradition has been elevated to a status higher than that of the Bible. Many of the false Catholic doctrines that are not found in the canonized Bible are derived from the Apocrypha, which contains many contradictions to the established Word.

5 Into the wilderness.
While the true people of God were hiding from Catholicism during their 1260 year rule over the kings of the earth, the Catholic church held power. But since the French had taken Pope Pius VI prisoner in 1798, she had lost her power and had herself been driven into the wilderness. There she has remained until the rising of the eighth head which is about to come.

6 Having seven heads and ten horns.
It is from this time of 1798 that the seven heads are seen. Beginning with Pope Pius VII after the death of Pope Pius VI in prison, we have now all seven heads presented. These are 1 Pius, 2 Leo, 3 Gregory, 4 Benedict, 5 John, 6 Paul, and 7 John Paul. The ten horns however, are defined in the latter part of the chapter, and are placed at the last hour at the end of the reign of the eighth head.

7 Full of the names of blasphemy.
By falsely attributing the power to forgive sins, the popes have claimed this power, thus they all fit this identifying element. Any method by which man has employed to displace the true Gospel is false. God made the provision for the dispensing of man's sins, fully and completely, and to displace this with any other system, constitutes blasphemy. By insisting that no one can have their sins forgiven except through the church, they then lay claim that no one can have salvation outside of their church.

8 Sitting on a scarlet colored beast.
The papacy is the beast whom this whore woman sits upon, and this beast has received its power and seat from the red dragon beast spoken of in Revelation 13: 2.

9 Arrayed in purple and scarlet.
The common attire of the Roman Catholic priests is that of the colors purple and scarlet.

10 Decked in gold and pearls.
The many cathedrals of the Catholic church are heavily decorated with these costly array of precious stones and gold.

11 Drunk with the blood of martyrs and saints.
Choosing to honor many of its adherents as saints, and declaring all opponents of Catholicism to be heretics, many of the Protestant reformers were persecuted and put to death.

12 Was, and is not, and ascends out of the bottomless pit, and goes into perdition.
This phrase delineates again the period of dominance of 1260 years, and was terminated in 1798, but subsequently arises again. It again takes dominance at the end time, but is thrust into perdition as Christ wins the final battle.

13 The mind with wisdom.
These verses are in a Chiastic link; Revelation 13: 18 and Revelation 17: 9, and provides the mathematical parameters for the counting of the 666 beast. Of all these elements of prophecy, they are met in the historical evidence within the Catholic church except this one. Here, the mind which hath wisdom, depicts someone who deciphers the mathematical clues. It does not state as some translators have rendered it to mean that "anyone who has wisdom" can solve this. If this were the case, then where are all these wise people? As often with puzzles, one person solves the puzzle, then it is shown to others. All previous applications to the riddle of the number 666, refer to other writers who have made some calculation. Andreas Helwig (1572-1643) was the one who deciphered the count of the letters Vicarius Filii Dei, and others are merely making reference to his work. Yet this interpretation by Helwig has been met with such grand apologetics, that it is impossible to convince a Catholic that it is true. And, primarily, they are right because it is not true. However, with this new interpretation, no Catholic can refute that the historic record of the popes bear out this number.

14 Five are fallen (1-5), one is (6th), and the other has not yet come (7th).
This particular passage has been used by preterists to pinpoint the sixth head to be the head ruling in power at the time that the prophecy was written by John. However, there is no evidence that the emperors of Rome, have any place in the remaining end-time elements of this prophecy, and indeed, they do not fit. There are not only seven emperors, but eleven. The eighth emperor of Rome was not the antichrist, and there remains yet an unexplained period of approximately 1900 years between the last emperor and the end. No provision is made within the prophecy to explain this discrepancy.

The structure of this phrase however, does present a better explanation. John was taken in vision to the future. It is from the perspective of this sixth head that the whole of the seven heads are perceived. It places a demarcation point at the sixth, and before the seventh, that requires the seventh to appear only after the sixth. This requirement is met by John Paul, who was not present before Paul. While the five that have fallen, have arisen with Pius on five separate occasions, interspersed between the second, third, and fourth heads, and Leo occurs twice. But after the fifth, this jostling of heads has stopped, and continues in a straight progression.

In Daniel 7: 6, it portrays a leopard beast that has four heads. These four heads are the four divisions that Alexander's Grecian empire was divided into and given to his four generals. These four heads are also Grecian. Each had control of a portion of the parent empire. These were Cassandra, Lysemachus, Ptolemy and Seleucid.

This historic example serves as a model of how the seven heads of Revelation 17 are to be seen; The seven heads of the papal beast, are also of the papal empire, and are not as many assume; the ancient empires, which have no relation to the papal beast. It is not sufficient to label the ancient kingdoms as being persecutors of God's people and thus make those to be the seven heads of this beast. Furthermore, in Daniel, it clearly states that there are four such beast kingdoms that rule upon the earth, and no other beasts are represented after the fourth, and that this fourth beast kingdom will continue to the end, (feet with iron unmingled with clay) when Christ comes to destroy it.

15 The seventh short space.
The seventh head that continues a short space is John Paul. There is no defined length of time of the short space, but when all seven heads are measured as to their tenure of reign, the tenure of John Paul has indeed been the shortest space. John Paul has been in office for the past 24+ years as compared to Paul, who was the next shortest head to reign at 67 years.

16 The 8th head, of the seven that goes into perdition.
The eighth head stands apart from the seven, he is not included in the listing of the seven as a mountain. Because he is the antichrist, he comes in his own name, thereby yielding the final ``one'' to the cumulative count of 665. Also, as noted in the Scripture, there are seven heads that are followed by an eighth head that is ``of the seven,'' but this eighth is not defined as a mountain, nor that it is one of the seven heads of this beast, but it is the "beast" king, that comes after the seven. Revelation 17: 8, 11) The Catholic church will turn the keys of their kingdom over to this eighth head antichrist, thinking that he is indeed the ``Christ.''

17 The ten horns that reign one hour with the beast.
The Bible states that the ten horns have not received their kingdom yet, but at the last hour, they will rule with the beast and lend their power to the wishes of the beast.

18 The many waters.
The Bible does well to define the waters in Revelation 17: 15. The waters which thou sawest... are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. It portrays the worldwide scope of the influence of Catholicism. The Three Angels' Messages are also to go to every nation, kindred, tongue and people.

19 The ten horns turn on the whore to destroy her.
After the ten horns have lent their power to this beast, and subsequently, have come to realize that they were deceived, they then turn upon her to destroy her. This fulfills the will of God at the time appointed.
